30% of food is unfit for Human Consumption in India, says Parliament Report

Why Standing Committee of Parliament is not demanding disclosure of the names?

By:

Vijay SARDANA

Standing Committee Report on Food and Consumer Affairs says around 30% of food in India do not conform to quality norms. It means people in India are eating garbage.

According to food science, unsafe food is garbage.

Who is consuming these unsafe food products are why?

1. According to the provided data on page 15 of the report, it is very clear that food supplies in India are not reliable. 30% of food is unsafe in India.

2. this 30% of products are those, who are outside the corruption network of food inspectors. Equal or more number of samples must be removed by taking bribe. Ask any food industry company, you will know the level of corruption.

3. If FSSAI management is so honest and transparent in function wh they do not disclose the names of the companies and products found adulterated and unsafe. Why they are hiding from consumers. Once they have convicted them and collected the fine, why they are hiding the names from the consumers and pubic at large? Place the whole list on the website under various classifications of fines.

4. When the USA and Europe are disclosing the names of the suppliers sending defective products to them from India and the problem with the products, why FSSAi is trying to hind the criminals. Whose agenda they are serving?

My request to the Members of Parliament and Members of Standing Committees is to seek the complete list of the criminals who are convinced under the FSSAI Act and make the list public.

This will have two benefits:

1. Public will avoid companies selling unsafe products. As long as products are in the market, due to ignorance about the safety status, consumers will continue to buy unsafe products and criminals will continue to make money from unsafe product sales. To date, not a single company has ever used the "Product Recall clause under the FSSAI Act". It means adulteration is deliberate to maximize profit. FSSAI is also trying to protect them by not disclosing the names of these criminals and offenders of the law. In place of protecting public health by sharing information with the public, the regulator is hiding the criminals by not sharing their names? What a shame

2. Honest players will get good space in the market to sell good products to consumers.

Request:

Unless there is transparency in the system starting from sample collection, laboratory analysis and display of the offenders under the law, the corruption will continue and the public will continue to suffer.

Farmers are suffering because adulteration suppresses the farmers' price.

The investment is suffering because the honest company cannot operate in a corrupt environment. That is why the required investment is not comping into the food processing sector.

Consumers suffer because they become sick and unable to perform and their economic condition deteriorates. 80% of disease are due to bad food and bad water, that is why our hospitals are flooded with patients. Have you noticed, why during Covid lockdown, the hospital rush was less because adulterated food was less sold in markets and restaurants? People were eating at home and having comparatively safer food at home.

The country suffers because no one will trust the bad supplier in the world market. Buyer will aak if India cannot feed good food to her own citizens, how they can feed us, so avoid India.

Who is benefitting?

Corrupt inspectors, corrupt officials, corrupt food laboratory staff and their patrons.

I request the people of India:

After the Police corruption target of Rs.100 Crores in Mumbai, also study corruption in the Food Safety department. Ask the same restaurants and food suppliers who all take money from them, other than the police, you will know the bigger agenda.

Appeal to all of you:

Why FSSAI is not disclosing the names of the companies on the website who are convicted of selling unsafe and adulterated food to consumers? This will help consumers avoiding bad foods and bad brands and bad companies.

Citizens must share this post with PMO and your MPs and MLAs on social media if this demand is logical and correct.

This effort is to save you, your family & well-wishers from unsafe & adulterated foods.

Take Care, Eat Safe, Eat Healthy.
